Yesterday after I left work and saw the smoke plumes of the fire just west of Phoenix soon after an early season thunderstorm blew past the city. A lightning strike in the desert ignited a brush fire that is continuing to burn, now up to 2,400 acres. This afternoon the smoke cloud blew over the city, blocking the sun and dropping ash outside of my office in Tempe. After getting home the sun tried to peak out and cast an eerie reddish-brown glow over the city. I happened to have my iPhone handy and snapped a picture looking out of my house.
